As somebody who’s never
lived in a dorm before, Innis is a pretty great place to live.
First and foremost, it’s
hard to imagine a more convenient location for down and out college kids. To
get to the subway, all you have to do is walk five minutes north and cross
Bloor street. To get groceries, you have to walk maybe seven minutes west on Bloor
to get to Metro, the main supermarket in the area (though there are cheaper
stores along the way). If pushing a cart wears you out, all you have to do is
cross the street and grab dinner. Where there’s lots of bars and ethnic
restaurants (may I recommend OG Gyros)? If you want to go shopping, turn east
on Bloor, walk ten minutes and pick yourself up a Prada handbag. You deserve
it.
Inside Innis, it’s pretty
clean (as long as you keep it that way). I suggest checking out this promo
video:
Along with
the website:
Innis offers a lot to keep you comfortable when you’re not at work. There’s a
few TV and gaming rooms, a gym, a piano room (if you’re so inclined) and
everybody’s favorite, laundry rooms! (on the even numbered floors).
As a student
intern, everybody gets their own bedroom, but you share a suite with 2-4 other
students. Each suite comes with a moderate sized stove, a fridge and plenty of
cabinet space for cookware and spices.
As you can
see, a typical bedroom at Innis has plenty of room for packrats like me:

Perhaps there’s no place like home, but Innis comes pretty close.
